Five years ago, philanthropist Julia Argyros had a couple of walk-on parts for South Coast Repertory’s beloved holiday classic, Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol, and when she was asked to reprise her roles for the classic’s 40th anniversary, she didn’t hesitate. SCR Managing Director Paula Tomei says that director John-David Keller is thrilled to have her back, as is Hal Landon, Jr., who is celebrating his 40th year playing Ebenezer Scrooge (as is Keller celebrating his 40thanniversary). “Julia is a blast,” Tomei says. “No, seriously, she’s really wonderful. She takes it seriously and wants to do the best job she can.” So, if you are attending Christmas Carol’s matinee performances on either Saturday, December 14, or Sunday, December 15, look for Julia. She is a woman on the street in the opening scene and a party guest, her main role. Visit SCR.org for times. The play runs November 30 to December 24 on Segerstrom Stage.
