As many students prepare to return to school, Ukrainian refugee children in Orange County are also getting ready. Unfortunately, many of them lack the supplies needed in their classroom.
Victoria Lerman Gillis, a Ukrainian American, and some OC donors organized an event at her house in Irvine to provide back-to-school supplies to those Ukrainian children who escaped the war in Ukraine. “Many children do not speak English yet and are unsure what they need for the school year. So, we wanted to be sure they have everything they might need at school,” Victoria explained.

Some items generously donated and delivered by Orange County residents were backpacks, pens, notebooks, and others to help the kids during the school year. Victoria and her husband have been helping Ukrainian refugees since March 2022.
The event was sure to help these Ukrainian children struggling to adapt to their new home in Orange County.
